New Braunfels: Home Sweet Home

I am pleased to announce that after living most of my life along the Texas Gulf Coast, I have relocated to the Hill Country and have settled my family in the charming little German town of New Braunfels, Texas.

I lived in New Braunfels previously back in 1988 and 1989 when I was just getting started in my pro tennis career.   I was employed as staff tennis professional at the famous John Newcombe's Tennis Ranch.  My ambition back then was to try to make it big on the ATP Men's Professional Tennis Tour, and Newk's was the perfect place to hone my talent while making a living as a professional coach.

Looking back on those fond memories, I still consider Newk's as 'Home' and the staff  as 'Family'. Fast forward to 2016, New Braunfels has grown by more than fifty thousand residents from when I lived there in the 80's, yet it still has a small town feel.  The historical downtown area is just as I  remember it. The residents are the friendliest you will find anywhere, and the countryside views are simply breath-taking.   We are delighted to call this place HOME...!

We moved to New Braunfels looking to slow down the pace of our lives and to enjoy a modest, peaceful, quiet season in this lovely part of the world.  I will continue to be involved in the tennis industry but on a lessor scale than I was previously,  and plan to be very active in ministry at Calvary Baptist Church New Braunfels.

The Hill Country area has an amazing home school community, and there are many more opportunities for artists here too.  So far we are very pleased with our move.

I plan to work closely with the Texas Tennis Association (TTA) and The San Antonio Tennis Association (SATA) to facilitate Junior Team Tennis in the Hill Country.  We are currently getting ready for our JTT summer league season and I will have links and more information provided soon.

I will be staging my large events and teaching tennis lessons out of NEISD Blossom Tennis Center in San Antonio.  Blossom has 14 lighted courts and is located at 12002 Jones-Maltsberger Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78216.

I have observed a long standing summer camp tradition of serving ice cold watermelon on the last camp day.  It's a delicious, refreshing way to follow up a hot tennis workout...!

Hello, my name is Coach Sam Chadwell.  I taught my first summer tennis camp as a volunteer for the Bay City Parks and Recreation back in 1980.  I found working with young people in a tennis setting such a fun and rewarding experience that I continued teaching tennis through out my college career and eventually became a certified teaching professional, which has led to an amazing career taking me all over the world as a professional tennis coach and club manager.

Over the years I have introduced tennis to thousands of players, young and old. This summer I am celebrating my 35th consecutive year of running a summer tennis camp program.  I am currently employed at Bay Area Racquet Club as Program Director, and am also available for private coaching by appointment.

Home School Tennis -Brazoria County Sept Semester Deadline Extended to Friday Aug 29

Dear Tennis Friends,

Quick Reminder:  The registration deadline  for the September fall home school tennis program in Brazoria County is Friday, Aug 29.

I will offer two programs in the fall:   Both programs will meet at Cornerstone Church in Lake Jackson.  The church is located on the old Riverside Country Club property at 3007 HWY 332, Lake Jackson, TX 77566.

Sept 5 Once a Month Friday Tennis Field Trip at Cornerstone Church, Lake Jackson.

This program  meets on the first Friday of each month and the next Friday Class will be be Friday, Sept 5.

Cost for the once a month Friday program is $20 / 1st child,  $30 / family   Loaner racquets available.

Ages Welcome:  6 years thru teen and adult

The September 5th program will meet 10:30 to 11:45 AM.

Monday Afternoon Weekly Program:  Class meets 4 Mondays each month for one hour.

September Session:  Sept 8, 15, 22, 29

Cost for the weekly Monday program starting Sept 8 will be $50 /1st child, $75 / family.

Anyone who knows me is aware of my love and passion for impacting lives through coaching tennis.

I am pleased to announce that my employment experience at Bay Area Racquet Club these past three months has been nothing short of phenomenal.  I have joined a team of six other passionate tennis professionals and a truly remarkable support staff who all share the same vision for excellence. In my 25 year career as a professional coach I have not had the pleasure to be associated with a more well run operation.

At this time I would like to take the opportunity to invite you to visit me at Bay Area Racquet Club.  The facility is located in Clear Lake off of NASA ROAD ONE behind the McDonald's and Regatta Apartments next to Space Center Houston.  The physical address is  17901 Kings Park lane, Houston Texas 77058.  We are a ten court lighted facility that offers a complete program for all ages and skill levels.  If you want a tennis experience that is second to none, you owe it to yourself to check out the excitement at Bay Area Racquet Club.

With the summer fast approaching, my duties and responsibilities transition to 'full-time' status at Bay Area Racquet Club. For those residing in an outlying area away from the club I would strongly suggest a day trip centered around a visit to my new place of employment for a lesson or camp experience. With abundant dining, shopping and entertainment opportunities near our facility, it would be quite easy to plan a fun family experience centered around your tennis activity.
